Hi! Thanks for stopping by! If I could sit for an hour or two and have coffee with you, these words written down here are much of what I would say. Mostly you would hear me say, "Me too. You are not crazy and you are definitely not the only one." It is my hope that these frail and honest words of mine wrap around your soul like a big ole' comfy blanket, and that you leave this space feeling a little more hope and encouragement.. and just a little less alone.

I don’t sugar coat things. I’m just not that mom. Life is not a fairytale. Their dad and I talk to our kids about our own major life failures because we want them to know the real us, not fake perfection. They know the worst of us. They have watched us mess up and have to apologize. They have seen us struggle and fight to make things work when it seemed easier to quit and walk away. They have seen me at my personal bottom. They have watched me have panic attacks and held my hand, wiped my tears and prayed over me while we waited on the ambulance to come. They have seen months of sickness that crippled me. They have seen me weep and my own children have held me as I grieved loss, WE grieved. But most importantly they have seen the real me. They have witnessed me lay flat on my face late at night as I cried out to God in prayer and seen me raise my arms in worship on even my darkest days when pain and fear pressed in. They have seen me in my deepest weakness and sat audience as my frailty mingled with His greatest strength in me. I hope they grow up to know that strength is made most perfect in weakness. I am not ashamed to be real because I know that the lessons they learn from seeing the imperfection of our authenticity and going through hard things is much greater than what they could ever gain from pretending that life isn’t hard and that suffering won’t ever come around. Teaching them how to suffer well is important to me because we aren’t preparing our kids for Disney World. We are preparing them to worship their way through carrying their cross and following Him.

Jackson and Daisy have a good case of the Mondays on this cold, dreary day. 😑 I get it. Anyone else want to just crawl back in bed and pretend responsibility doesn’t call today like me?

Tree is up, decorating is done and coffee/hot chocolate station is stocked. Now bring on the Thanksgiving & Christmas holiday season. 🎄

Morning thought: If God inhabits [dwells in, lives in] and is enthroned by [exalted as a king to His throne] the praise of His people, then it only stands to reason that when we are dissatisfied and complain we build a dwelling place for Satan and lift him high upon the throne of our heart. No wonder complaining puts us in a bad mood! Gosh. This thought hit me hard. I often complain about things in my life that aren’t what I feel they should be under the guise of constructive criticism, but maybe I’ve been building a dwelling place for the enemy to camp out and eat popcorn, watch Netflix and get all comfy instead. Complaining = the place where the enemy camps out. Praise = the place where the Spirit of God sits on His throne and makes His home in us. He DWELLS in the “God you enoughs therefore I lack for nothings” of His people.
